Our Name, Our Inspiration
Why “Millie’s”?
Silver City has a colorful past, and few figures shine brighter in local lore than Madame Millie— Mildred Clark Cusey, a legendary businesswoman known for her quick wit, sharp mind, and above all, her “heart of gold.” From the 1940s through the 1970s, Millie ran some of the most well-known establishments in town, and while her trade may not have been conventional, her reputation for hospitality and customer service was second to none. As one local historian put it, “Millie knew how to treat people well, and she never forgot a name.”
When we founded Millie’s Assisted Living Community in 2003, we embraced that same spirit, although with a very different type of “customer service.” Our Millie’s is a place where compassion, care, and comfort come first. Like Madame Millie herself, we believe in treating every person who walks through our doors as someone worth remembering, respecting, and cherishing.
At Millie’s Assisted Living, “small home, big heart” isn’t just a tagline. It’s a promise to our residents and their families: that every meal, every smile, every act of care will be offered with the same kind of dedication that made Madame Millie a legend in Silver City.
We like to think she’d approve. 😊
